On the starting line of the Nascar track at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Yes that is a Cop behind me. We were getting ready for a photoshoot and I guess they wanted to make sure we weren't going to take a "Lap" around the track.

I bought this Skyline on Okinawa Japan back in 1998. It was my daily driver for my last two years on Okinawa and most of the older Japanese generation was amazed at the condition my car was in, and thought I was crazy that I didn't just garage it with a car cover over it. Owning this car in Japan was awesome. Anywhere I went people would walk around it, stand and stare at it, look under it, around it, inside it and step back and stare at it some more. I'm thinking. . . .my goodness people, this is a Japanese car, a right hand drive car, its nothing new. . . .so why all the stares and head scratching? Why? These old school Skyline's are a part of their HISTORY. Most Japanese who own one of these vintage Skylines only drive it maybe....MAYBE once a month when most car or motorcycle clubs tour the island every third sunday. Finding one of these cars in great condition will be costly. Once I found one that I thought I could pick up for under a thousand $ because it did not have an engine, tranny, or differential and the owner still wanted $15,000. I once found one that I thought was $8,000. but placed the decimal point in the wrong place. . . .it was $80,000. It was 100% original with the non-reclining bucket seats, the dash and center console was flawless and that S20 24 valve engine was sure to make you shiver with excitement. Last but not least, if I'm not mistaken it had the old "OKI" plates on it, not the newer "Oki nawa" plates. (doesn't apply for mainland Japan cars) I think that made him the original owner.
My engine is the L28, 2.8 liter. . . .say. . .280Z motor. I was running the 50mm solex carbs, BeeRacing intake tapped for Nitrous, N42 head (large valves) shaved 20 thousanths (13:1 CR)(if you shave a 280Z head don't forget to shim your cam towers) 3 angle valve job, 89mm flat top pistons with 240Z 9mm rods, LD28 crankshaft. The ignition is by Kameari. The transmission is a 5 speed, the rear end is an R200, 411 LSD. The interior is pretty much original, center console was modified by previous owner, original seats were kept by previous owner. Hey, even the FM (our AM) radio and clock still works. . . .must be a Timex, all you hear when you get in is "tick. .tick. .tick
of the clock. . . .ok, to be honest it loses about an hour per month, but hey it still works. It has a stock tack and a 250 kph speedo. It even has a vacuum guage that lets you know if your driving is poor, fair or good, I'm sure it has to do with gas milage. The guages consist of Head temp, Exhaust temp, Oil temp, Oil pressure, Water temp, Air/Fuel monitor, a Kameari Fuel pressure guage and an Auto Meter Monster tach w/Shift lite.
For safety I use an RCI 5 point racing harness and to go just a little faster for those very close races, a 75 shot sneaky pete NOS. My rims are true Watanabe to include the center caps and lugnuts (watanabe markings on both) 14's up front and 15's out back. (give the car a really aggressive look) The tires are Dunlop sport 8000 (195/55/14) up front and Nitto 555R's (275/50/15) out back. The Nitto 555R's give my car this "I'll kick your ass" look. And talk about sticky...... . . . . .I will post more pics of my car and it's interior later.
