On the starting line of the Nascar track at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Yes that is a Cop behind me. We were getting ready for a photoshoot and I guess they wanted to make sure we weren't going to take a "Lap" around the track.

BAD NEWS FOR OUR SKYLINE 531
HURRICANE IVAN DESTROYS OUR MOTOR
We're just days from the famous Nopi National car show and the rush is on to get our engine done. On 14 Sept. 04 our engine is finally done. We decided to go with a High compression, carbureted ALL motor project. This what's in our motor: The block is a Japan spec Maxima block. Why? No particular reason except if you look at the bottom of the block where the oil pickup bolts on and just a few inches up from it is another flat surface just like your oil pick up surface. That surface IS an alternate place where you can drill out and put your oil pick up depending on where your cars cross member is located. All Japanese 2.8 blocks I found in japan had both oil pick up holes drilled with a block off plate in place on the one you didn't need. The only thing I am not sure of is, was it purely coincedence that they were all drilled out or does J-Spec 2.8 blocks come from the factory with both oil pick-up locations pre-drilled?? I have an N42 and a couple F54 blocks and none have the alternate pick-up hole drilled, whatever?? SO, the block was sent off for the usual cleaning, magnafluxing, bored 40 over, the deck was shaved 10,000ths, primered and painted. The head used is an E31, also sent off for pressure testing, checked for straightness, shaved 5000ths, new everything to include installing the larger N42 valves, Yes, the cam towers were shimmed 15,000ths. The cam is a Schneider 285/295/ duration 485 lift with matching springs etc... The pistons are by Arias with a slight dome. Rods were balanced, polished and shotpeened. The crank is a forged steel crank. All clearances were perfect and all bolt on accessaries are new (oil pump, water pump, one wire alternator etc...). We swapped out the double pully damper for the racing single pully damper. If you need one you had better get one soon as for some reason the racing damper is going to be "restricted" I have no idea why!(I got my info directly from Nissan, their competition parts dept. in Gardena California. 213-538-2610) Motorsports Auto in Orange California has 6 left in stock. I was informed that this damper is good in excess of 10,000 rpm's. Thats ok, my power band is from 3500 to 7500. For the Dyno contest we installed a stage 4 ACT clutch kit by Clutch Specialties with matching light weight aluminum flywheel, OH how pretty!!!!....... drum roll please..... 16 Sept. 04 Ivan ripps the roof off our 30 X 60 4 bay garage. By morning, the engine in which is still on the cherry picker in the ready position, is full of water up to the head. I couldn't put the valve cover on due to the chain on the hoist would scratch the powder coat. The inside of our well kept garage looks as if a bomb went off. Our other project is also in shambles. Our 1973 Opel GT had a few trusses fall on the front fenders and smashed the head lights. Go to the link below and look at some pics. If my insurance pulls through, I may have enough to install my dream engine, the infamous RB26DETT.
